What Is a “Dosage Form?”

A dosage form is the shape of your medicine.  Capsules and liquids are common dosage forms.  Compounded dosage forms offer more options and may include lozenges, lollipops, and topically applied creams.

Thurs, Aug 19th

The Stress Effect: Learn How Powerful the Adrenal System Is, and How To Use It For Good.

Our adrenal (or cortisol) system is designed to give us energy throughout the day, allow us to rest at night, and respond to stress effectively.  But, today's demands are often above-and-beyond what our adrenal systems are able to keep up with.  "Stress" manifests in many forms, but the response is the same: release cortisol.  When the body is forced to continually respond to constant stress, the adrenal system has to work overtime and eventually will be unable to work any more at all.

Symptoms of adrenal fatigue may include:

chronic fatigue, difficulty sleeping, poor sleep quality,and tiredness throughout the day;

weight gain, especially in the mid-section;

depression and irritability;

anxiety and panic attacks;

frequent and/or prolonged illnesses (weakened immune system).

Join Pharmacist Christina Barnett at Westchase Specialty Pharmacy for a discussion of the adrenal system, optimal adrenal function, symptoms of adrenal dysfunction, lab tests and interpretations, and medication and supplement options.
