What Is a “Dosage Form?”

A dosage form is the shape of your medicine.  Capsules and liquids are common dosage forms.  Compounded dosage forms offer more options and may include lozenges, lollipops, and topically applied creams.

Could Compounding Work For Me?

Many patients are helped by commercially-available medicine, but you may benefit from using a customized medicine instead.

Reception

You’ll find the reception area to be inviting and comfortable, but also helpful.  Nutritional and cosmeceutical products, hand-chosen by Westchase Specialty Pharmacy, are available for purchase without a prescription.  The Westchase Library displays health-related books also available for lending to patients.  The reception area also functions as a meeting space for Health Seminars for patients, prescribers, and others.

Patient Consultation Office

The conversations you have with your Westchase pharmacist will be detailed and confidential.  To facilitate this type of interaction, the private consultation office provides a personal setting for answering your questions and giving you all the information on your prescriptions.

Non-Sterile Compounding Laboratory

Unique dosage forms, including troches, lollipops, transdermal preparations, and personalized capsules are compounded here in Westchase’s State-of-the-Art Compounding Laboratory.  Here is where the technologically-advanced equipment is used.  You are welcome to visit Westchase Specialty Pharmacy for an on-site tour of the compounding facility.

Sterile Compounding Laboratory

Some medications are administered to patients in a manner that requires them to be sterile, such as injectable medications or ophthalmic (eye) applications.  Sterile preparations MUST be created by trained compounders in a specific, dedicated space that meet strict environmental standards set by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and state board of pharmacy.  Rigorous cleaning procedures, environmental monitoring, and product testing are crucial.  You are welcome to visit Westchase Specialty Pharmacy to view the Sterile Compounding Laboratory.

Now that you have completed your virtual tour of Westchase Specialty Pharmacy, please visit us personally for an on-site tour and to meet our staff.
